Policy Manual | Tryout Packet

The health and safety of our current and future students remains our highest priority. Due to continued COVID-19 precautions, Duquesne Athletics and the cheerleading program are delaying in-person tryouts for teh 2021-22 season to occur in August. The nature of tryouts will be based on the COVID-19 protocols determined later in the summer. Please fill out this interest form so we can contact you directly when the details have been finalized. 


Our Cheerleading program is comprised of 20-30 full-time students at Duquesne University. These athletes are required to attend ALL practices on Sunday evenings, Tuesday/Thursday strength and conditioning workouts, all home Football games, and all assigned Men’s and Women’s Basketball games. Additional events are also required including, but not limited to: summer camp, pep rallies, pre-game events, community events, etc. A competition squad is possible depending on the level of interest from the squad.

The squad participates in many philanthropic and community activities during the season, which include: DuquesneFest, Fall Open House, Spring Clean-Up, Best Buddies, and more.

Each athlete is required to maintain academic eligibility (minimum 2.0 GPA) while participating in all events. These athletes are also required ongoing participation in Safety training to maintain our compliance with NCAA rules and be in good physical condition as reflected in a current physical. A one-time fee will be collected at the beginning of the season to pay for camp and personal items (i.e. brief, bodysuit, etc.). All other items are purchased by the Athletic Department and include: Uniform, Travel Bag, Shoes, and warm-up.
